  1. Have read two of your books, just finished Planet of the Blind, Have Dog Will Travel is next! Love, love your books, your writing, your dogs! You’re pretty cool too. Everyone should read your books. I’m appalled at the pettiness and meanness some people have shown you. Keep on truckin”!

  2. Just completed “Have Dog, Will Travel” and must say it was the most magnificent love letter to a dog, Corky, I’ve ever read. You depict the wonderful professionalism, emotions and loyalties dog display (service-worthy or not). Through your entire story, I was kissing, petting and affirming my dog. She may not be a service animal per se, but she has been solidly there for me. Thank you for sharing your personal story with the rest of us. It is uplifting to all.

  3. Steve, I heard you speak in Richmond, and was entertained and impressed, but then I read your beautiful book and was deeply inspired by your skill with words and how clearly your love and devotion to your dog is expressed. Thank you! Kim

  4. Just finished Have /Dog, Will Travel which I picked up since Guiding Eyes is an organization I have supported for the past 18 years. Then I read where you had attended Iowa Writer’s Workshop which blew me away since I live in Iowa City. Hope you have done readings at Prairie Lights. Loved the book and the information. Of course, loved Corky! Thank you for the book.

  5. Thank you so much for your newest book. My sister sent me copy as a gift, and I’ve ordered another copy for a friend. I raise puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind. You perfectly captured our role in the process. The copy I bought is going to a fellow raiser who is still trying to get her heart in the right place after watching her first pup graduate. I believe your story will help her enormously. Again, thank you.

  6. Dear Stephen,
I just finished your book “Have Dog Will Travel”. My 32 year old son received an assistance dog 4 years ago. I often say to my friends that the dog has been a life changing experience for my son. Words have always seemed inadequate to describe the meaning of this dog to my son and to our entire family. Your book has articulated how these amazing dogs change peoples lives. Thank you so much.

  7. The only way I know to get a large print edition of my two books from Copper Canyon Press is to download them from Bookstore or buy them as eBooks.

  8. I am very interested in a large-print edition of your poetry. I have many visually-impaired friends who are comfortable with large-print. Thank you for your poetry and your journey.

  9. Dear Stephen,
I have never written an author fan letter before, but I have to say something! I purchased Have Dog Will Travel from Bookshop Santa Cruz Friday night and finished it Saturday morning. Now I am on the subway in San Francisco, fresh from the library, and I am immersed in Planet of the Blind. Your writing is so so so beautiful. Thank you for what you do. Isabelle
