  1. The armed forces are probably one of the biggest proponents of the benefits of rehabilitation, including suicide prevention programs, for soldiers who have endured the stresses of service. My feeling as a rehab specialist is that it is far better to prevent the injury, whether physical or mental, in the first place, than to try to climb out of the hole once the injury has occurred. Rehab can only do so much. It’s one (and only one) of the reasons that we see a lot of homeless vets in L.A. begging for spare change along freeway off-ramps.
