The sun came out yesterday for much of the day. I suggested that our Syracuse realtor was practicing witch craft. BTW I'm in favor of witch craft. But only when realtors who represent my interests employ it. I wouldn't support it for air traffic controllers or candidates for public office. I'm just sayin'

  1. Syracuse seems to get a bit more snow than Iowa City: Syracuse: Average: 116.9 inches

Average annual snowfall, Iowa City: 26.5 inches. (The snowfall totals are annual averages based on weather data collected from 1971 to 2000 by the NOAA National Climatic Data Center.)

So maybe you should be looking a home close to the university?

  2. Years ago when I was a real estate agent, I would occasionally find myself taking people out to look at houses on a day when it was raining. As we sat in the office talking about the day ahead, I would say something like, “It would really be nice if this rain would stop so we don’t get soaked.”
When we finished our chat and went out to my car, often the rain had stopped. On the way to our first appointment, it might start up again. I said, “It would be lovely if the rain let up so we could get inside without getting wet.” When we pulled up in front of the house it might have stopped, or it might be just drizzling a little.
When this happened two or three times in a row, people would look at me and ask what I was doing. I wasn’t aware, at the time, of doing anything … but nowadays I recognize my talent for weather magic.
So yes, quite possibly your realtor has learned that ‘asking for what you want’ works with the weather as well as it does with people.
