America is truly a land of dreams. As mentally ill, drug-addicted war veterans of various conflicts wander the streets homeless, we still cling to the power of rehab programs to address the often irreversible and severe damage that war inflicts upon people. We buy the latest TV, subscribe to a cable network and spend our evenings transfixed by American fantasies that encourage us to consume great quantities of products and services that often have little to do with the basic necessities of living a healthy, content life.
