What Does It Matter?

In the airport where women and men
Are strangely themselves
As children are in churches
You see how lonely you are
Though you’re married
Have children, friends,
Or a loving partner
And laughter—
There it is, beside
The vending machines
Your shadow solitude
Searching its pockets
For proper coins
Known to Caesar.
