Empty Nest: Day 10

Steve is home from New Hampshire (as of three days ago).  Today we are off to the Chautauqua Institution in upstate New York.

It’s our first "date" as empty nesters – a mini-vacation of sorts.  Well at least for me.  Steve may have an audience of 500 to 1,000 people to entertain Thursday afternoon.  As for me, I just have to get him there.  My work is then done.

  1. I personally think the day rocked. Steve read my personal favorite, chapter 1, from Eavesdropping, and a few other selections, and took lots of questions. One was from a 13-year-old who said, “I don’t know about these things — how do you manage to wear matching clothes?” Steve explained that he had a sighted wife, which helped. He said he’d left the house wearing two different colors of socks. Vidal snored through the reading, which Steve explained was par for the course.
Steve, just so you know, I, your sighted friend, Georgia, have managed to wear two different colors of shoes to work — black and brown. Worse still, one was a pump and the other was a slingback. I was sleep deprived and reached into a dark closet on an equally dark morning, which doesn’t quite explain it, but it’s the best I can come up with.
