I Always Answer with the Right Name When They Call Me

planet of the blind

A road led there
Where once they chose grief
Frail alders mark their graves
Passing in the Subaru…

St. James Infirmary Blues
True national anthem

Autumn storm warm wind
Leaves dancing
The withered ones
Death’s butterflies

Next time I saw you
You were my anima

Spent the weekend with many aging happy people

Today I’m reading about the unborn

A road led there, but it was a dark place
and the weather had turned from apples
past pumpkins into some place beyond
the celebration of all the saints.

    Cocaine Blues, The National Anthem,
but not Nearer My God To Thee

    Someone else’s winter storm sends
our leaves dancing, running hard to the east
dead butterflies in the colors of the monarchs

    Next time I saw you
    I was unrecognizable or maybe
    simply forgotten.

Spent the weekend by the side of the pool.

Today, I’m listening for a horse in a desert
La, la, la, la-la-la-la, la-la-la, la la.
