Writing with two dogs at my feet.
As far as they’re concerned
I could be doing anything—
Middle distance staring
Thinking where’s my father
All these years—
But I’m working
On poetry of agreement:
The morning is cloudy,
Dogs sleep.
Shifting to the past tense:
It was the best of times.
